New online hub helps provide cost-of-living advice and assistance

While energy bills, inflation and other living costs are expected to continue to rise sharply, households are under increasing financial pressure, both locally and across the country.

To make it easier for borough residents to find out about the range of support available to help with the cost of living crisis, Telford & Wrekin Council has created an online hub as a one-stop-shop for getting help. information and help available from the council and trusted partners.

The new hub links to help, support and advice on benefits and finances, bills and affordable heat, food costs and general well-being.

Telford & Wrekin Council Leader Councilor ShaunDavies (Labour) said: ‘We know that many households in the borough are facing economic challenges and tough decisions for the winter ahead, and we we are by your side.

“Counseling helps in many ways, so we want to make sure people can learn about the support available to them and how to access it. This new online hub brings everything together in one easy-to-use place and also includes support information from a range of trusted partners, such as Telford Crisis Support and Telford Energy Advice.

“As a cooperative council, we work hard to help and support the residents of the borough. This includes freezing council tax increases for the next two years and complementing the national council tax refund program from our own funds, ensuring that 95% of households in the borough receive a help with their council tax. »

Although the new information center is web-based, free internet access is available at the libraries in Southwater, Wellington, Madeley and Newport for people who cannot log on at home.
