SPECIALIST advisers are on hand to help Dorset residents who may struggle to meet day-to-day expenses as the cost of living rises and energy prices soar.
Citizens Advice in rural Dorset has reopened all face-to-face library sessions, with funding provided by Dorset Council.
Citizens Advice expects demand for IT services to increase in the coming weeks as more people struggle to meet their expenses.
Helen Goldsack, managing director of Citizens Advice at East Dorset & Purbeck, said: “Our income maximization sessions are led by specialist advisers who are able to give advice on a range of money-related topics in the to help people budget and manage their finances with more confidence.
“Our advisers will help people better understand their entitlements to social benefits, as well as how to apply for charitable grants and any other discretionary help that may be available. We can also provide debt advice.”
She added, “We expect the demand for our services to increase significantly over the coming weeks and months. By offering these sessions, we want people to know that help is available.
Cllr Laura Miller, Dorset Council portfolio holder for customer and community services, said: “These are worrying times for many people and it is important that we all work together to support those who are facing difficulties. financial difficulties. Our libraries are a trusted destination for important information and I am glad Dorset Council can help provide this vital support service. I urge anyone who might be struggling with their daily expenses to contact Citizens Advice Dorset and book a session with one of their brilliant advisers at the nearest participating library.
Income Maximization sessions must be booked in advance by calling the Dorset Adviceline on 0800 144 8848, or residents can be referred by a Citizens Advice adviser. Library staff are also able to refer people to the service.

* Dorchester Library: Monday, 10am-12pm
* Swanage Library: Monday, 10am-12pm
* Upton Town Library: Tuesday, 10am-12pm
* Ferndown Library: Thursday, 10am-4pm
* Weymouth Library: Tuesday and Friday, 10am-1pm
