Our current mantra is don’t waste, don’t want.


So if you’ve been following our recent non-carne chili recipe and have leftovers in your camping cooler, we’ve found the perfect way to use it – as a topping for homemade burgers.


The secret ingredient here is Henderson’s Relish, which takes this dish to another level.

  • 500g ground beef
  • Chilli leftovers
  • 4 slices of Monterey Jack cheese
  • 15ml Henderson’s Relish (or Worcestershire sauce)
  • 1 large shallot
  • Salt and pepper
  • 2 large tomatoes
  • 1 small pearl lettuce
  • 1 red onion
  • 8 pickled green peppers
  • 4 buns
  • Bag of 200g of salted tortilla chips





Step 1:

Finely chop the shallot and add it to a bowl with the ground beef and Henderson relish. Season generously with salt and pepper. Mix with your hands (be sure to wash them first!) until well combined. Divide the mixture into four equal amounts, then shape into round patties.


2nd step:

Cook the patties on a grill over medium/high heat for three to four minutes on each side, until golden brown.

Place a slice of cheese on each patty and place a loose lid on the burgers for about three minutes or until the cheese melts.

Meanwhile, thinly slice the tomato and red onion and heat the remaining chili until it bubbles.


Step 3:

To build the burger, cut the buns in half and squeeze ketchup and mayonnaise onto the bottom.

Then add a leaf of lettuce, a few slices of onion and tomato, two peppers and the burger and cheese.

Finally, pour in some remaining chilli and place the lid of the bun on top.


Step 4:

Serve with tortilla chips and any remaining salad on the side.


Trick :

Use Worcestershire sauce if you can’t find Henderson relish locally
